“George Formby” is on its way back!
Open Boat 230 “George Formby OBE” is on the comeback trail thanks to our recent increase in workshop staff. A full rewire of 230, which has been stored awaiting this work for 3 years now, has begun, and this will restore our full compliment of three open Boats to use for the first time since 2016. As well as the essential rewire it is planned to tidy up and paint the interior of 230, but it will not be receiving the level of interior restoration undertaken on sister car 227 during 2018. 230 will instead keep its painted interior and seats, and will therefore represent how these trams looked in their later years in service.
Once 230 has been completed we can progress with similar work on Twin car 675+685 and Brush Railcoach 634, which previously stalled due to other workshop commitments and pressure on our very small workforce.
