FAQ’s

  • Can we pre-book tours? – Generally no, just turn up and pay the conductor on board The only pre-bookable tours are Great British Night Out, The Ghost Tram and other special events where advertised
  • Can we board at any tram stop? – You can only board Heritage Trams at our distinctive Green and Yellow Heritage Tram Stops at Pleasure Beach, Tower & North Pier, Cabin, Bispham, Cleveleys and Fleetwood Ferry. Unfortunately, we are unable to stop at the modern tram platforms. We sometimes use Temporary Heritage Tram Stops for special events. You can only board Illumination Tours at Pleasure Beach
  • Do you operate every day? – Promenade Tours operate most weekends & school holidays. Illumination Tours operate every evening during the Illuminations except Switch-On weekend when the tramway is closed at North Pier for the Switch-On event. Illumination Tours start from Switch-On time until 9pm Sun-Fri & until 10pm Sat
  • What time is best to catch an Illumination Tour? – The first tours are always busiest and then get quieter during the evening, around an hour after switch on time is best for a shorter wait! Saturdays are our busiest! Tours take just over an hour and operate around every 20 minutes. We operate extra trams on Saturdays and October Half Term holidays
  • Where do we catch an Illuminations Tour? – ONLY from Pleasure Beach Heritage Stop you can alight an Illuminations tour at Bispham, Cabin, Tower & North Pier and Pleasure Beach on the return journey but cannot reboard once you have left the tour.
  • Are all Illumination Tour trams illuminated? – We use a mix of Illuminated and Heritage trams. You get a great view of the Illuminations from the top deck of our Double Deckers!
  • Can I get off and rejoin a tour (split tour)? – Daytime tours -Yes, Illumination tours – No
  • Are Blackpool Transport Saver/Day/24/One tickets valid on Heritage Tram Tours – No. Heritage Day Travelcards are available which also include modern tram and bus services
  • Can we buy Heritage Day Travelcards on all trams and buses – Yes, Heritage Day Tickets can be bought on any Blackpool Transport bus or tram service, remember and ask for HERITAGE. Heritage Day Travelcards: Adult £11, Child £6, Family £25 – includes all Heritage trams plus modern trams and buses
  • Can we buy Heritage Tram Tickets online or on the Blackpool Transport App – Our Heritage Travelcards are available on the Blackpool Transport app when we operate daily during holiday periods and Illuminations
  • Can I pay by Debit/Credit Card on board – No, we only accept cash on our tours. You can also buy our Travelcards at our Travel shop on Market Street and at the Tourist Information office on the Promenade, these outlets accept Debit/Credit Cards
  • Are concession passes accepted on Heritage Trams – No, unfortunately these are not valid for tours
  • Are Heritage Day Travelcards valid for 24 hours – No, they are only valid on the day of purchase
  • Can I hire a Heritage Tram – Yes, call Emma on 01253 209521 for more details! We have Heritage and open-top buses too!
  • Can I take prams and buggies on Heritage Trams – yes, however, they must be folded.
  • Are Heritage Trams fully accessible – Unfortunately due to the age, design and historic nature of our trams there is a high step to board all of our trams, this is at least 12″ above the ground, there is usually one further step inside the tram of the same height.  Our staff will endeavor to assist where possible with advice for boarding. We can accommodate a folded wheelchair on our tours if the user is able to step out of the chair onto the tram. The Illuminated Western Train Tram has a wheelchair lift and one wheelchair space on board, we aim to operate this tram every evening during the Illuminations subject to availability. The modern LRT trams offer step free access and wheelchair spaces for those unable to board our trams
  • Can we bring dogs on board and is there a charge – Well behaved dogs are welcome on our trams. There is no additional charge.
