Join us on the tramway for a very special celebration!
Not only is it the 132nd Anniversary of the Blackpool Tramway, but 2017 also marks 80 years since our iconic Brush cars entered service! Built by Brush of Loughborough and Introduced to Blackpool in 1937, these single-deck stalwarts of the tramway became a familiar sight as they ferried passengers between Starr Gate and Fleetwood. To celebrate we have a few surprises up our sleeve!
“Can we come and visit the depot?”
Without a doubt, this is the most frequent question that we are asked at Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours! Usually the answer is no, but for this weekend only the gates of both Rigby Road and Starr Gate depots will be flung wide open for those with pre-booked tickets. Why not compare the historic Rigby Road facilities with the state-of-the-art Light rail facility at Starr Gate and enjoy unprecedented access to both? You must pre-book tickets for the depot tours, and we advise booking early as the tours are popular and do sell out.
Please contact Emma on 01253 209521 for more information, or to book a place on the tour.
Tram and bus rides
Of course, the true highlight of the weekend will be the trams themselves! Not only will there be a chance to ride on a wide selection of trams between the Pleasure Beach and Fleetwood, but a selection of rarely seen tram-cars will be on display along Hopton Road by the depot. Add to this a heritage bus service along long-since closed tram routes through the town and it makes for a great day out for all the family.
This annual event is without a doubt the highlight of our calendar and we can’t wait to see you!
Whether you want to spend the entire day with us, or just fancy a quick tram ride along the promenade, you can be sure of a warm welcome from the number one Trip Advisor recommended attraction in Blackpool!
